The Senior Applications Specialist plays a critical role in supporting business growth by supporting the development of tailored treatment solutions and value propositions in collaboration with commercial teams and customers. They perform detailed system sizing, and process design to ensure competitive and effective offerings, while also conducting demonstration tests and performance validations. This role provides expert-level consultation on advanced oxidation processes (AOP), UV disinfection, and validation frameworks, supporting both new and existing systems. Additionally, the expert contributes to internal knowledge development through technical reporting, tool creation, and thought leadership presentations.

This position is part of our Global Applications Team and is located at Trojan Technologies in London, ON, Canada.

Accountabilities

  • Partner with commercial teams and customers in early project phases to define solutions, develop concepts, and position Trojan’s technical value.
  • Perform system sizing calculations and collaborate cross-functionally to define and cost competitive solutions aligned with customer objectives.
  • Provide expert consultation on UV disinfection and AOP sizing, applications, and validation frameworks.
  • Conduct pilot and full-scale performance testing to demonstrate system effectiveness and validate performance guarantees.
  • Represent Trojan in technical and commercial discussions with customers, vendors, consulting engineers, and contractors.
  • Support aftermarket and service teams with system optimization, troubleshooting, and performance audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Civil, Chemical, Environmental, or Biological Engineering (or related field) with 5+ years of experience in water/wastewater treatment.
  • In-depth knowledge of UV water treatment technologies, particularly disinfection and AOP applications.
  • Strong understanding of advanced water treatment processes, industry standards, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to design, execute, and lead experimental and full-scale validation work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to engage with clients, engineers, and regulators.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively; willingness to travel up to 20% globally.
