Introduction

The Extraction Operations Manager is responsible for planning, overseeing and monitoring the daily operations in the Extraction department. The Extraction department processes include decarboxylation, milling, terpene extraction and crude extraction via supercritical CO2 extraction.

Position

• Monitor daily performance vs. production targets, and troubleshoot any production issues in real time 
• Operate extraction equipment as required to meet production deadlines and throughput targets 
• Develop equipment and manpower schedules to meet production objectives
• Identify and drive improvements for process efficiency, employee safety and product quality
• Develop and maintain all Extraction Department SOPs and work processes
• Provide approvals, assessment and feedback for all production paperwork, production changes, new equipment, etc. as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Extraction Department
• Clearly communicate the objectives and vision of the organization on a micro and macro level
• Collaborate with all other business functions to achieve general goals of the organization
• Foster a team culture focused on employee safety, product quality, effective execution on goals, and continuous improvement

Required Skills

• MSc./BSc. degree required in chemical engineering, chemistry, engineering technology or related science
• 5+ years experience in a laboratory and/or production environment, preferably in pharmaceuticals, food, botanical extraction or related industry
• 2+ years experience in team management
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Self-motivated

• Adaptable to changing priorities and effective at multi-tasking
• Commitment to safety and high-quality results
• Strong time management skills  
• Experience in the cannabis industry is preferred
• Individuals with a Health Canada security clearance will be given preference
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Required to pass a criminal background check
• Must be able to work various shift schedules as required
