Job Description

Position Summary:
The role of the Q.A. Electronics Technologist is to ensure that the all Quality related tasks for NPD are conducted and reported out on for Electronic Components / Software and Finished Goods to their entirety.
This also includes tasks associated with post launch monitoring, evaluation of Customer Returns including product destroyed in the field and returned.
Also to promote concerns outside of their influence to the appropriate functional discipline for immediate attention.
Primary Responsibilities:
New Product & Training Development (Manufactured & Purchased) - The duties of this position would be but not limited to the following;
    • Participate in the Design Failure Mode & Effects activities for New Product.
    • Working knowledge of the PPAP Process (Production Part Approval Process) & APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).
    • Provide detailed information on Product issues for Electronic Product offerings and propose improvements / corrections to address the Root Causes. (manufacturing & customer based issues)
    • Quantify Customer / Sales feedback for development of Product Improvements or Training / Trouble Shooting needs.
    • Evaluate Customer Returned Product for cause of return and formal reporting.
    • Work closely with Product Engineering, Masco R&D on existing and new product’s for implementation of product enhancements.
    • Assist in developing and deliver necessary training and materials for Manufacturing / Customer Service / Sales Representatives. (Masco Canada & Delta Faucet Co.)
    • Perform site visits with Sales or Business Development Mgr.’s for assessments of electronic products versus environmental considerations. (New Building Technologies / Materials)
    • Identify, coordinate, and regularly monitor Beta / (Alpha) Test Sites used to evaluated New Product / Technologies and their application. (NPD).
    • Participate in New Product Development activities and team meetings.
RESEARCH
    • Investigate / research causes for product performance issues. Environment, Product Application.
    • Investigate and identify negative trends negatively affecting Cost of Quality.
    • Assist in the development Inspection protocols for Electronic related components (New & Existing Technologies).
    • Formal monitoring and reporting on New Product Alpha and Beta Sites for product performance and feedback.
    • Field assessments of Competitor Product’s observing Performance, Environment and Application, with formal summaries / detailed reports for the observations / conclusions developed.
    • Perform finished product evaluation to identify Strengths / weaknesses for review with Product Management & Product Engineering.
Health & Safety:
    • Maintain a safe workplace
    • Wear Personal Protective equipment as required on the shop floor
    • Comply with the company policies and OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)
    • Report unsafe conditions as soon as possible
5S:
    • Ensure your work area is maintained at required daily 5S standards
    • Follow daily 5S standards as posted in your dept
    • Correct any deviations from 5S standards immediately
    • Participate in Lean & C.I. activities / projects company wide.
Qualification:
    • 5 years’ experience in the Electronics Industry.
    • Strong Computer Skills (MS Office, Excel, Powerpoint)
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
Educational Requirements:
    • O.S.S.D
    • Post-Secondary degree / certificate in Electronics (Technologist / Technician) from a recognized learning institution. (Community College, University)
Additional Skill and Knowledge Requirements:
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Bilingual capability would be an asset, but not mandatory.
    • Good time management skills.
    • Ability to Travel to Suppliers / Customers
