About the Role

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician – Mechanical (Millwright) who wants to CELLebrate in a fast-paced and fast-changing environment. As part of the ramp-up team of our new Canadian location, you will report to the Maintenance Supervisor. The will be responsible for ensuring the operational readiness and reliability of manufacturing equipment, systems, and infrastructure. They will perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance while ensuring safety.

This position is required to be fully onsite and eventually will transition to a shift based work model

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment Maintenance & Reliability

  • Independently perform complex troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive/predictive maintenance on automated manufacturing systems.
  • Conduct detailed root cause analyses for equipment failures and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance schedules, SOPs, and safety protocols to ensure optimal uptime and compliance.
  • Monitor equipment performance data and continuously refine maintenance strategies to improve reliability.

2. Installation, Commissioning & Optimization

  • Support installation, alignment, calibration, and initial testing of new equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project teams, and contractors during setup and commissioning.
  • Verify system functionality and compliance with technical specifications through pre-operational and safety tests.
  • Fine-tune and optimize equipment performance during early production stages to meet quality and efficiency targets.

3. Technical Expertise & Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot and repair automation equipment including 6-axis robots (Fanuc/KUKA), PLCs (OMRON, Siemens), HMIs, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Implement software changes and updates to PLC and vision systems (Cognex, Rviz, etc.).
  • Perform mechanical work including welding (arc, MIG, TIG, plasma, gas) and operation of hoisting and lifting equipment such as cranes, jacks, and forklifts.

4. Continuous Improvement & Project Support

  • Lead or participate in equipment improvement projects to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Identify and resolve process bottlenecks and recurring issues, contributing to measurable improvements in downtime and cost.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on system upgrades, modifications, and process enhancements.

5. Training,  Mentoring & Documentation

  • Mentor and train junior technicians and production operators on equipment operation, CMMS use, and maintenance best practices.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records in the CMMS and ensure compliance with documentation standards.
  • Coordinate contractors and lead small projects to ensure safe, efficient execution of maintenance activities.
  • Manage critical spare parts inventory and ensure availability of essential components.

What you bring to the Team

  • Relevant Post-Secondary education with a minimum of 3 years as a licensed Industrial Millwright (433A)
  • 7+ years within an industrial maintenance role with exposure to commissioning/ installation/servicing (ideal), preferably within lithium-ion battery, chemical, pharmaceutical, or automotive manufacturing environments with at least 3 years of direct mentorship or supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of automated systems, including motors, pumps, piping, mechanical repairs and alignments.
  • Experience with PLCs, robotics, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, with a preference for Siemens S7 (desirable).
  • Comfortable using CMMS/EAM systems for maintenance tracking and reporting.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and repair complex automation issues
  • Able to read part processing drawings and understand mechanical processing technology.
  • Familiar with production processes and knowledge of related equipment on production lines.
  • Knowledge of shop tools (i.e. milling machines, lathes, grinders, drilling machines, welding)
  • Ability to teach/mentor new technicians spreading knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) in English
  • Able to travel internationally for up to 3 months for training purposes
