Maple Leaf Foods is embarking on one of the most exciting journeys in its history through the build and startup of a world-class, leading edge manufacturing facility producing premium, value added fresh poultry products. The new 640,000 square foot facility will call London, ON home and will employ over 1,600 employees as we ramp up operations over the next few years.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

As Human Resources Advisor, you will:
  • Consistent with our leadership values, act as a champion for our culture by participating in the development and execution of a positive and productive environment focused on the needs of our people. (Use if role has no direct reports and delete the other)
  • Provide advice and counsel in matters relating to progressive discipline and termination issues including layoffs.
  • Participate in quarterly Labour Management meetings. Assists in early identification and resolution of labour/employee relations issues in collaboration with Managers and Supervisors; grievance resolutions
  • Ensures all People Leaders are educated on current collective agreement language, Company policies and procedures and their impact including performing necessary training
  • Conducts investigations into complaints of harassment, human rights and/or violations of Company policies or procedures and advise management accordingly.
  • Participates in the preparation for collective bargaining
  • Manages all aspects of the Attendance Management Program including monthly reports, coordinating and holding counseling meetings (up to and including non-disciplinary termination) and any follow up with necessary parties
  • Responsible for administering the internal job posting procedure for all hourly employees
  • Responsible for hourly Payroll/KRONOS sign offs & reporting management
  • Supports all recruitment activities for hourly employees, including orientation
  •    Provide support to HR Manager for salary SAP changes, salary short term and long term disability, salary payroll changes and recruiting. 
  •    Provide support to HR Coordinator for recruiting, temp labour needs and benefits
  •    Support hourly exit interviews and report analysis

What You’ll Bring:

  • Post Secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources Management
  • Obtained or working towards CHRP designation with 2-3 years’ experience manufacturing unionized environment
  •  Knowledge of current employment legislation including ESA, OHSA
  •  Advanced computer skills – Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
  •  Decision making skills
  •  Knowledge of current employment legislation including ESA, OHSA
  •  Advanced computer skills – Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, HR Systems, Job Posting
  •  Proven ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively at all levels
  •  Organizational skills and ability to multitask
