Finance Analyst II - Canada Flavor Solutions BP&I (Business Performance and Insights)

The Canada Flavor Solutions BP&I (Business Performance and Insights) Senior Analyst provides complex and insightful financial analysis and reporting in support of divisional leadership’s understanding of actual performance, financial forecasts, and the annual planning processes (budget and long-term plan). The Senior Analyst will also play an active role in streamlining and optimizing Americas BP&I processes through project level engagement with various teams.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Direct support of the division CFO and Commercial Finance for consolidated business segment planning, reporting and insight-based analysis
  • Assembling, analyzing, and presenting information as part of the business planning and analysis process to include monthly/quarterly performance and S&OP Reconciliation
  • Bridging of actual results to forecast, budget and prior year, as applicable, ensuring all major P&L components are properly recorded and adequately explained and communicated
  • Compiling, reporting and analyzing cost center budgets and forecasts ensuring proper communication of bridges and explanations to cost center owners
  • Participating actively in projects and ad-hoc analysis/questions related to divisional reporting, pricing, COGS, etc.
  • Continually standardizing and optimizing P&L processes/reporting across North America
  • Use critical thinking drawn from professional experiences, market, and industry knowledge, data, intuition, financial statements, and applying that information to develop actionable insights, make decisions, and set direction
  • Building and interpreting complex financial models
  • Applying and understanding McCormick & Company, Inc’s best practice financial reporting to meet the requirements of management, external authorities, and the stakeholders of the Company
  • Ensuring the internal control environment meets the requirements of Sarbanes Oxley Act 

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting and/or financial analysis required.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment or other supply chain / costing area preferred.
  • Experience participating on projects, supporting finance initiatives with the business, preferred.
  • Experience with transaction & reporting systems including, but not limited to Hyperion, SAP, Business Warehouse, TM1 or other local systems preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of financial accounting standards and GAAP required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business or an MBA required.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities required
  • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of different financial and analytical techniques preferred and the capability to plan own work and respect deadlines required.
  • Demonstrated ability to make judgments based on analysis of factual information, practice and previous experience/reasonable assumptions required.                                                                    
  • Strong proven knowledge of cost accounting practices and financial accounting standards
  • Excellent interpersonal (written and verbal) communications skills with a demonstrated ability to work across functions & cultures, and interact with all levels of the organization required.
  • Demonstrated ability of being a dynamic self-starter, to work independently and apply sound judgment to solve complex problems with incomplete and/or ambiguous information required and to proactively initiate action steps required.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at once, work under pressure, apply judgment and ask for aid in prioritizing as applicable required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to resolve issues required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills required.
  • Knowledge of SAP design, transactions, R3 and BW reporting capabilities highly preferred.
