Facilities Maintenance Technician

 

We require an GFMT Team Member who will be responsible for: 

  • General maintenance and labour duties of the Starlim North America facility.
     

Additional responsibilities include:

  • General facilities maintenance and repair duties including the grounds, equipment and building systems including water, sewage, refrigeration, heating.
  • Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly facility preventative maintenance duties
  • Regularly complete filter changes and general maintenance on the facility air handling units
  • Performing minor plumbing maintenance including the repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains and replacing water filters
  • Performing minor electrical maintenance such as replacement or repair of bulbs and tubes, minor appliances and cords using appropriate hand and power tools
  • Performs minor painting and carpentry work
  • Winter maintenance as required (salting, sanding, shovelling)                          
  • Complete any inspection or maintenance checklists and records
  • Perform other special or emergency cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Regularly work with other departments for building/Machine upgrades
  • Regularly work with outside contractors for inspections/testing/service work
  • Other duties assigned by manager or team leader
  • Support Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives throughout the facility, ensuring safety, housekeeping and quality standards are maintained.
     

Do you have?

  • High school diploma plus an additional program related to construction or maintenance preferred
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience working in facility maintenance
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and carpentry
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of health & safety procedures in a manufacturing environment

 

Successful candidate will also have:

  • Ability to carefully and efficiently clean machinery without damaging functionality                         
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills                   
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills required                           
  • Must be self-motivated, with an ability to work independently                           
  • Must be customer-service oriented                      
  • Good time management skills with the ability to successfully prioritize tasks                    
  • Ability to use common tools                  
  • A valid driver's license is required                         
  • May be required to use special equipment and/or chemicals to complete some tasks                     
  • Ability to perform heavy labour tasks over an extended period of time (ability to lift, push, pull loads up to 50 lbs.)                      
  • May be required to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl while performing the essential duties of this job                       
  • May require the need for overtime to support repairs                        
  • Must be able to work all shifts including days, afternoons, nights, and weekends
