Healthcare Materials Management Services (HMMS) is a joint venture between St. Joseph's Health Care London and London Health Sciences Centre, that has been operating since 1997 providing consolidated functions of Sourcing, Contract Management, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Logistics, Supply Chain Systems and Inventory Management for the London Hospitals and numerous healthcare organizations throughout Southwestern Ontario.

As a full service supply chain organization, HMMS interacts with over 9,000 suppliers to provide an item catalogue of over 90,000 active items.

The People & Culture Specialist is responsible for supporting the Coordinator (Manager) in the implementation of a people strategy for HMMS that will in turn, provide exceptional customer service. This role will help to implement the HR infrastructure within HMMS, and will facilitate change to support increased capacity through talent acquisition and retention, training & development, employee engagement, and other HR related programs established by St. Joseph's and HMMS. Inclusive to this role, the incumbent will conduct recruitment for HMMS, establish and maintain social media accounts, internal communications, a public website and an HMMS intranet.

As an established Human Resources and business-minded professional, you will participate with operational leaders to determine staff training needs, research options, and implement a development plan for staff and leaders based on feedback; work with operational leaders for effective workforce planning and talent retention to ensure succession planning and growth is in place; in coordination with the operational leader, identify individual needs for certain online or in class courses; create, own and implement a program to prepare HMMS for succession planning; assess training needs, courses, seek sources and instructors that are appropriate for supply chain; and make recommendations on staff retention program.

You will be responsible for creating, editing and posting content to HMMS Intranet for all levels of leadership and staff to access; identifying needs as they arise for HMMS specific policies and procedures, writing policies and procedures, and communicating accordingly; collaborating with operational leaders to develop SOPs as they are required; creating, editing and posting content to HMMS social media accounts and implementing changes to HMMS external website; liaise with communications support provided by Joint Venture Owners (St. Joseph's/ LHSC); create and update monthly KPIs as required; and maintaining HMMS' Employee Manual of SOPs by reviewing for accuracy, making edits as required and communicating changes.

In addition, you will be responsible for creating job descriptions, job postings, and interview tools. Applicant screening, conducting interviews and providing professional feedback and support to the operational leaders will also be required.


Essential Qualifications

  • University Degree in related discipline (ie. Human Resources, Business)
     
  • Experience:
    - 2 or more years' experience in a related HR function
    - Proven experience advising and coaching staff and leadership within an organization, influencing the business strategy.
    - Experience in developing and implementing Human Resources related programs: recruitment, performance enhancement, employee relations, orientation, training, leadership development, health and safety, communications and policy and procedure retention.
     
  • Health and Safety
    Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Workplace Setting in compliance with the OHSA
     
  • Other Skills
    - Solid understanding of applicable employment and human rights legislation
    - Excellent and proven interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
    - Able to facilitate change through the effective use of organization strategies and development
    - Excellent organizational and planning skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
    - Must possess tact, diplomacy and the ability to maintain confidentiality
    - Excellent customer service focus and a true team player
    - Basic computer skills in MS Office, talent management tools, and training software

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset

Immunization Requirements
  • Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and a written commitment to follow any future Public Health recommendations and St. Joseph's Health Care London policies and processes related to Covid management in the workplace.
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing

All HMMS employees are employees of St. Joseph's Healthcare London and are assigned to HMMS work sites.  Site location could be St. Joseph's Healthcare London (St. Joseph’s / Parkwood Institute), London Health Sciences Centre (Victoria Hospital / University Hospital), or at one of our warehouses located on Stronach Crescent or Exeter Road in London ON.
