Senior Mechanical Engineer

Arva Industries, located in St. Thomas, Ontario is offering an excellent opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and analysis of vehicle structures, as well as sub systems on mobile equipment, primarily cranes and trains, which include mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

Responsibilities:

• Mechanical design of mobile equipment including, but not limited to, driveline, suspension, steering, and braking.
• Design steel structures and conduct stress analysis as required.
• Detail design of mechanical systems in SolidWorks.
• Coordinate and be responsible for mechanical engineering drawings and specifications, Project Managing and/or working within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Investigate, respond, and implement corrective action to Production, supplier, and field issues.
• Develop plans and estimates for future projects (ROMs, BOEs, project plans and informal estimates)
• Lead design reviews.
• Perform analysis and testing of mechanical systems to identify areas for improvement.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Skills:

• Advanced understanding of steel structure design, mobile machinery experience preferred.
• Strong fundamental understanding of mechanical systems, and their related control systems.
• Hydraulics understanding is required, but expertise is preferred.
• Driveline experience is an asset.
• Strong project management skills to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
• SolidWorks is preferred, but not mandatory.
• P. Eng or equivalent technical and design experience is preferred.

Remuneration:

• In this full-time role, your remuneration will be based on your abilities as a design leader and your experience with similar machinery.
