Summary
The Director, Operations Finance will be a direct report of the CFO and will lead the team supporting operations. This role will be the CFO’s right hand and will be developed to accept progressively broader responsibilities. Superior leadership skills, a passion for team development, and a focus on continuous improvement are required for success as this person partners cross functionally to build sustainable processes to improve profitability.
Core Responsibilities
Team leadership
- Build a high performing team through a culture of accountability and metrics based feedback
- Develop a framework to facilitate talent development – including: opportunities for stretch projects, cross functional opportunities, and job rotation
- Improve team member engagement
Internal Controls
- Develop and implement an internal controls framework that reflects optimal business practices and ensures efficient controls over financial reporting
- Purvey an internal control mindset across the organization by partnering with cross functional business partners to understand operational risk and how to monitor
Operations Accounting
- Create sustainable processes to ensure accurate, timely recording of transactions
- Enable timely recording of cultivation and production entries to facilitate accurate measurement of gross margin by SKU
- Partner with Payroll department and production/cultivation teams to develop and facilitate seamless labour recording and reporting
- Enable system improvement projects to create efficiencies in accounting processes
Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Ensure all revenue and procurement contracts are assessed for appropriate recognition
- Enable timely and accurate recording of invoices and revenue
- Implement processes to ensure completeness of accruals
Requirements
- Fully qualified CPA with five years of industry experience, preferably in Agriculture or Manufacturing
- Working at our sites 2-3 days per week (Aylmer/Strathroy)
- Dedicated leader, focused on development of team members
- Experienced in preparation of FS in accordance with IFRS
- Strong business partnership skills with a focus on cross functional accountability
- Proficiency with application software including the Microsoft Office productivity suite
- Expert excel skills, practiced in spreadsheet controls
