About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and highly motivated IT Logistics Application Specialist to join our dynamic team and help us to setup, maintain and enhance our Logistic IT systems and applications, innovative solutions and exceptional service. Reporting to the CIO, you will work closely with the local IT team and the PowerCo Germany IT team at our Headquarter.

This position is in-person and located in the charming town of St. Thomas ON.

Key Responsibilities

•    Lead the enhancement of logistics processes including provisioning, transportation, warehousing, inventory management, order processing, and monitoring.
•    Oversee the deployment and management of warehouse management systems, ensuring optimal storage, packing, and order handling.
•    Manage and optimize Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and logistics fleet control systems, improving logistics efficiency and reliability.
•    Utilize technical knowledge of SAP ERP Business Suite to manage logistics processes, ensuring seamless integration and data accuracy.
•    Ensure effective integration of logistics systems with other industrial systems, particularly production systems, to maintain cohesive operations.
•    Lead the rollout of new logistics IT projects, ensuring successful implementation and minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
•    Manage and optimize the use of logistics-related shopfloor devices, including PDAs and printers to enhance the effectiveness of logistics operations.
•    Help integrate new technologies and systems such as SAP (IBP, PP, SD, MM, EWM, YM, TM),  Automated Storage Retrieval System (ASRS) and Logistic fleet control (LFC) and AGV’s into our logistic environment.
•    Assist in maintaining the stability, efficiency, and reliability of applications across manufacturing, logistics, maintenance, and quality domains.
•    Installing, upgrading, and managing shop floor IT devices based on VW group standards
•    Ensure monitoring and analysis of logistic systems and coordinate the availability of logistic network infrastructure
•    Organizing, troubleshooting, specialist support for logistic systems incidents and problems
•    Manage / resolve security countermeasures when network or system vulnerabilities arise
•    Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices on logistics systems
•    Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and advancements to ensure the company’s logistics systems remains current and efficient.
•    Purchasing shop floor IT equipment and ensuring the efficient operation and keeping an accurate inventory
•    Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff.
•    Collaborating closely with Manager of IT production and logistics in the execution of the IT strategy
•    Collaborate with other IT professionals within VW Group and business departments
•    Supporting large-scale IT logistics systems, applications and projects
•    Review shop floor IT vendors to ensure that quality solutions are proposed according to requirements

What you bring to the Team

•    Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
•    Years of Relevant Experience Required: Min. 7 years of relevant experience, ideally at large companies or experience with complex IT projects in logistics environment.

•    Proficiency with logistics systems and applications (ERP, ASRS, LFC) and shop floor IT equipment (AGV’s, scanners, handhelds and label printers)
•    Experience in supporting logistics-systems, -applications and -network infrastructure and PLC’s
•    Strong knowledge in network protocols, server hardware, IT logistics systems, applications and processes
•    Familiarity with Product Lifecycle/Data Management (PLM/PDM) and Facility Management Software (FMS)
•    Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux operating systems.
•    Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
•    Effective project management and facilitation skills
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical personnel
•    International mindset and strong interest in global work and diverse teams
•     German language skills desired
