Shipping/Receiving Lead Hand

PURPOSE OF POSITION   

 

The primary role of this position is to serve as leader within Shipping and Receiving. Able to fulfill the roles of Receiving, Shipping and Material Handling. Ensure timely and accurate flow of materials into and out-off the central warehouse and production facility. 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Maintain ability to perform all functions within shipping, receiving and material handling. 

  • Assume leadership position within team, allocating responsibilities and priorities for team members to ensure that demands of internal and external customers are consistently met. 

  • Serve as primary contact to report on resourcing challenges, equipment needs, long-term improvement plans, etc. 

  • Assume ownership role within Shipping and Receiving Areas to ensure proper 5S practices are followed, and that areas, including docks, are kept clean and orderly 

  • Responsible for Visual Daily Management 

  • Receives/Transacts/Loads all raw materials, parts, and/or finished goods. Verifies versus pack lists/truck bills and/or work orders for accuracy. 

  • Prepares materials and delivers materials to designated locations through the use of manual or powered equipment. 

  • Inspects material for conformance to standards. Inspects for visible damage to materials. 

  • Issues, addresses and responds to material non-conformance as required. 

  • Communicates with Buyer(s) if materials arrive in suspect condition. Must use good judgment to determine if materials should be refused due to damage. 

  • Performs Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP) transactions accurately and in a timely manner. 

  • Will work with Inventory Control to reconcile and correct inventory discrepancies. 

  • Works with Planner/manager to ensure proper order management and planning to meet quality and On-Time Delivery. 

  • Executes Kanban processes during material put away and picking. 

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 

  • Previous leadership experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment 

  • 5 - 10 or more years material handling or equivalent experience 

  • Inventory Management experience preferred (i.e., inventory transactions, cycle counting, & material handling). 

  • Computer and keyboard experience required. 

  • Must have strong understanding of ERP and transactional processes 

  • Must have a good working knowledge of Kan-Ban processes. 

  • Requires associate to pass fork truck driving test 

  • Ability to maintain good driving record.
