The Assistant Controller will be primarily responsible for functions including supporting the monthly, quarterly, annual accounting close process. In addition, this position will work closely with the Business Unit Controller to drive overall process improvements that promote scalability and provide support. This position has significant responsibility for analyzing and reporting the Global financials by applying principles of accounting to perform duties at a high standard.
This role will specifically support Pall Water, a division of Pall Corporation that is part of Trojan Technologies in the Water Quality Platform at Danaher! With many different divisions, there are endless opportunities for growth with this team.
This position is ideally based in Cortland, New York but other areas may be considered. This role could also be based in London or Guelph, Ontario.
Responsibilities:
- Lead most aspects of accounting management for Pall Water in conjunction with the local entity controllers (reporting, closing, reconciliation, etc.)
- Formulation of internal controls to improve accuracy of financial reporting and in alignment with accounting standards
- Assist in the development of Pall Water balance sheet globally
- Ability to translate accounting and business requirements into reporting processes and requirements.
- Assist in preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements
- Analyze financials and detail variance for US balance sheet accounts to discuss with management
- Manage journal entries, invoices etc. and support reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing
- Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts
- Assist in periodic Incentive Compensation calculations and process.
- Review the company’s accounting information and understand policies to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
- Utilize ERP & BI Reporting system to facilitate processes and maintain records
- Provide support to Global functional area teams during month close and reporting cycle
- Assist others in Finance as required (e.g. Tax, Financial Reporting, etc.)
- Embrace and utilize a culture with regular kaizen activities leveraging daily management and continuous process improvement to achieve sustainable competitive advantage.
- Solves problems, evaluating systems and or processes to determine root cause and implement corrective actions as required, engaging subject matter experts as needed
- Continuously improve our execution plans for projects, drive improvements thru Danaher Business System tools.
- Travel requirement of 2 weeks per quarter to Cortland, NY office.
Experience must include:
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
- Proficient in GAAP and financial accounting standards and pronouncements
- 10+ years work experience in general accounting
- Experience with SAP required
- Successful experience leading teams and process improvements
- Project Accounting experience a plus
- Proficiency in Excel and the ability to structure and present data effectively.
