The Design Engineering intern will support the design specialists in the various disciplines (Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical) with review of technical documentation, interaction with contractors and suppliers, project coordination with internal and external stakeholders, and on-site validation of design implementation.

This position is in-person and located in the charming town of St. Thomas ON. This is an 8-month co-op term for eligible students.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist design specialists in reviewing drawings and specifications
• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and workflow.
• Take minutes during project meetings and ensure follow-up on assigned actions.
• Help maintain organized project documentation, including drawings, reports, and correspondence.
• Provide technical assistance to field staff, contractors, and subcontractors as needed.
• Generate drawings in AutoCad/Revit to engage various stakeholders to clarify employer requirements
• Support BIM/Digital Twin process including 3D Cash Clash detection review tasks
• Conduct site audits and generate regular reports, including tracking project progress and scheduling updates.

What you bring to the Team

• Currently enrolled in a university program in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, Co-op.
• Experience in the construction industry or on-site work is a strong asset.
• Basic understanding of construction drawings, materials, equipment, and standard practices.
• Beginner-level knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and design software is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated work ethic and motivation to take initiative.
• Ability to adapt to changing work schedules and meet tight deadlines.
• Comfortable accessing all areas of a construction site in various weather and environmental conditions.
