Area Manager, Facility Services
Key Job Elements
- Oversee daily operation of the Facilities Services Department in a heavy, fast paced manufacturing environment. Areas of responsibility include management of:
- Tool Room
- Facilities Engineering
- Maintenance
- Manage and develop employees in a unionized environment; including, skilled trades. Oversee management of non-unionized skilled trade supervisors and facility engineers
- Identify, develop and implement the annual capital budget projects for the site
- Achieve Maintenance/Tool room departmental budget (expense, headcount)
- Plan and manage the work schedule, work execution, equipment records, repair histories while supporting the Collective Bargaining Agreement (UNIFOR)
- Plan and cost control all contractor activities on site
- Maintain safe work practices to ensure employees comply with safety regulations and all known standards: i.e. TSSA, ESA, Local Building Codes etc.
- Monitor facility equipment efficiency and downtime, investigate and resolve deficiencies and effectively communicate to senior leadership
- Report key equipment availability and preventive maintenance status
- Provide daily, weekly, monthly status on equipment, infrastructure and office areas
- Monitor performance metrics to ensure accountability
- Ensure department staffing is to budget and provide training for development of hourly and salaried personnel
- Provide effective communication on operational priorities across multiple internal functional departments (Safety, HR, Production, PMC, Finance, Tool Engineering, Product Assurance)
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems on machinery and equipment
- Promote and develop business opportunities by establishing and maintaining regular interface with customers, business partners and suppliers
Position Requirements:
Required Qualifications
Engineering Degree, College Diploma
Minimum 5-7 years of facility and equipment maintenance experience
Minimum 5-7 years of supervision/management of a unionized technical/ production department
Strong communication, presentation and organizational skills
Must be able to work in a team setting
Knowledge of GDLS-C procedures and processes
Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (10% US & Int’l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of Maximo
Knowledge of GDLS-C products
Skilled trades supervision experience
