Specialist/Engineer, Uninhabited Systems

Position Description:

• Define, design, build, and demonstrate Uninhabited Systems (UxS)-enabled Capabilities for defence applications.
• Support projects to integrate, optimize and validate Remote, Tele-Operation and Autonomous control of optionally crewed ground vehicles. 
• Coordinate and ensure the successful adoption and integration of enabling technologies
• Support customer-facing hands-on demonstrations of capabilities.
• Develop internal requirements and support the analysis, decomposition, and reconciliation of customer requirements
• Develop and manage execution of Statements of Work
• Identify, trade and analyse alternative concepts including internal and external trade studies
• Ensure solutions are developed and proven to adhere to the capability requirements sets
• Coordinate, conduct and document sub-system and system level testing to verify and progress viable designs to a production-ready (TRL7) level
• Produce technical reports and prepare technical information in support of project deliverables and management requests
• Support development of Bids and Proposals

Position Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• University degree or college diploma in electronics, mechatronics, or mechanical engineering (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
• Minimum 3-5 Years relevant experience
• Hands-on experience with a range of unmanned systems, communications, and command and control systems
• A demonstrated ability to conduct hands-on and analytical tasks, including trouble-shooting, and conduct effective customer-facing hands-on demonstrations
• Technical experience, competence and commitment to maintain current in field
• Trustworthy, solution-seeking and collaborative with internal, cross-site and external colleagues
• Ability to effectively interact with military customers and S&T community at various levels
• Eligible to obtain Security Clearance

• Canadian RPAS Advanced Operators Licence holder
• Experience with common UAS protocols, development and command and control tools (MavLink, ROS, Q Ground Control, UGCS, DJI Developer SDK’s, etc.)
• Experience with GDLS-C IRAD practices, processes, considerations
• Currently hold Level II (Secret) Security Clearance
