Finance Analyst, Poultry Central Costing
 

The Opportunity:

The Finance Analyst position assists in coordinating the financial reporting and analysis activities in the Toronto Poultry operation.  This position works closely with operations to accurately reflect the results, ensure internal controls are in place and monitored, and provide finance expertise and support.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working in finance operations before the role transitions to the London Poultry Costing team in July 2023.  

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

Finance Analyst, Toronto Poultry:
  • Report and provide explanations for financial results and forecasts for the plant operations.
  • Investigate variances, determine root causes, and recommend actions to minimize
  • Complete daily/weekly labour reporting.
  • Provide overhead management support to assigned Budget Manager and Finance Manager.
  • Data Analysis.  Understand cost driving activities and provide analytics to assist management.  Put controls in place to minimize variances.
  • Play a key role in the period end close process
  • Coordinate inventory counts, investigate & provide explanations for variances that occur.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts relating to manufacturing and ensure controls are in place, and items are accounted for.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Finance Analyst on special projects as assigned.
  • Provide coverage for Finance Team Members as required.
  • Design, test, implement and maintain procedures.
  • Provide leadership in formulating reports (both recurring and ad-hoc) which highlight opportunities and our progress in minimizing costs.
London Finance Analyst, Costing:
  • Weekly Vitals report consolidation
  • Responsible for setting up standard costs of new products/materials in SAP and supporting the ECR process for central costing.
  • Entry of approved standard cost revisions into SAP system that is necessary to maintaining an accurate costing system
  • Ensure compliance with C3 in relation to Journal entries and GL account reconciliations, and with external audit requirements for testing
  • Support budgets and forecasts
  • Complete cost estimates utilizing 3C Software – Impact ECS Software
  • Develops and analyses ad hoc reports and models as required

What You’ll Bring:

  • 2-5 years Finance background in a manufacturing environment.
  • Completed Bachelor’s degree – ideally with specialization in business finance or accounting. 
  • Technology savvy individual with excellent aptitude for working in information systems modeling and analyzing data
  • Demonstrated experience in cost accounting, budgeting, and internal controls
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships with business partners and team
  • Superb sense of urgency, attention to detail, organizational & problem-solving skills
  • A proactive self-starter with the confidence and curiosity to take initiative, ask questions and improve processes
  • Prior experience in manufacturing and SAP are preferred
