Job Description:

3M is seeking an Intermediate Accountant for its Finance Operations team located in London, ON.   The successful candidate will make an impact as a core team member, managing and maintaining the bookkeeping and financial records for one of the Canadian entities known as Fall Protection Training. This will involve end to end accounting processing for Fall Protection Training as well as gathering support for internal and external audits and tax compliance, assisting with treasury operations and completing all Statistics Canada reporting for 3M Canada and subsidiaries. This hybrid role requires you to be in the London, On, Canada (Tartan location) office a minimum of two days per week.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain bookkeeping and financial records for Fall Protection Training to accurately generate monthly financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet and trial balance
  • Strategic analysis of monthly financial statements, trends, forecasts, and budgets for Fall Protection Training
  • Assist with implementation of new software as directed by global team
  • Ensure GAAP principles are maintained as well as Global Financial Standards
  • Generate, file and process CRA payments using on-line banking for GST and income tax installments
  • Process accounts payable invoices and facilitate payment using on-line banking
  • Support for daily Treasury operations for Canada. 
  • Responsible for all Statistics Canada reporting for 3M Canada and subsidiaries
  • Provide support for internal and external audits and tax compliance
  • Adhoc projects to streamline processes and create department efficiencies


To set you up for success in this role from Day 1, 3M requires (at minimum) the following qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • University degree with a business or accounting focus
  • 2 years of relevant work experience (AP, AR, Bookkeeping, Analysis, or Auditing)
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills


Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Accounting certification
  • Familiarity with theories and practices for accounting, taxation, and treasury
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Industry experience – Accounting, Treasury, and Banking
  • Industry experience and association memberships
  • Software – Sage 50, SAP (an asset), Excel, Local Canadian on-line banking


Travel: In this role, travel would be very limited. A valid driver’s license is required.
