Business Overview:

Unifin International is a business unit within Wabtec Corporation’s Components division.  Originally founded in the 1920’s, Unifin International is an electric equipment cooling company, focused on the power generation and transmission markets.  Our primary business is within North America, but it reaches worldwide from legacy fossil fuel and nuclear plants, to growing renewable energy power grids.


Job Overview:

An exciting opportunity to work with a great team and continuously improve our current logistics process.  This is a full-time position, which requires the candidate to work fully on site with no hybrid schedule.  The candidate should be willing to take initiative on projects or correcting process issues, be energetic with a positive attitude and challenge the status quo with continuous improvement techniques.  They should also be willing to work as an individual or with other departments to meet customer demands and expectations. 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with production planning and other department teams to be aware of what is being produced on a daily basis and what products and quantities are shipping to the customer to meet the month-end goals;
  • Send requests for quotes to existing service providers, securing the best shipment rates;
  • Prepare and maintain shipping documents, customs paperwork and other logistics-related paperwork ensuring adherence to transportation regulations and trade-compliance requirements, both domestically and internationally;
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the logistics function, suggesting strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times;
  • Prepare spare parts and LTL freight shipment using courier services or customer-specified carriers.
  • Approve and book outgoing shipments ensuring costs fall within the quoted freight budget;
  • Submit and support relevant HTS and Free Trade Agreement requests to Wabtec’s designated service providers;
  • Work in partnership with Wabtec Corporate Customs and designated business stakeholders to support the execution of the US/CA Customs Compliance process requirements;
  •  Act as primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, corporate customs teams and customs agent queries for product technical data and questions;
  • Communicate and escalate any process or compliance concerns in a timely manner.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 years’ experience in a direct logistics role;
  • College Diploma in Logistics or associated with the logistics sector.

 

Desired Characteristics:

  • Good administrative, customer-service, problem-solving and co-ordination skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment;
  • Self-starter; able to work in a highly-demanding role;
  • Work well with shipping companies, customers, production and warehouse personnel and third-party Customs Service provider;
  • Excellent attention to detail; excellent organizational skills with attention to task prioritization;
  • Functional knowledge and use of Excel, Office, Word and ERP systems as it relates to Shipping/Receiving;
  • Experience with international shipping;
  • Familiar with express carriers and freight forwarders;
  • Knowledge of a free-trade agreement and its importance;
  • Export and/or import experience;
  • Confidence in dealing with various levels of leadership, both locally and at Corporate;
  • Take pride in their work.

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada is required.
