Job Purpose and Impact

The Technical Professional -Pork will focus on being the link between our farm customers and internal and external stakeholders.  In this role, you will understand the pork portfolio available and make suggestions to the account team and/or customers to improve production. This role will identify on farm areas for improvement and profitability. Also, you will bring industry thought leadership while striving to learn more and turn knowledge into value.

Key Accountabilities

• Help identify and lead interactions with assigned group of producers to resolve sales opportunities.
• Active barn visits to identify and report swine health and production opportunities and provide high quality customer service.
• With minimal mentorship, develop client retention and growth plans and strategies for developing profitable business with assigned accounts.
• Review and report on customer retention, business opportunities and market trends.
• Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Diploma/certificate or bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum of four years of related work experience within the pork industry
• Ability to travel up to 60% within Canada (predominately within Ontario) 
• Possess a valid Canadian driver’s licence in good standing authorizing you to drive independently during the course of your employment
• Physical ability to perform assigned duties while on farm to support pork producers 
• Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous technical sales experience within the pork industry 
• Experience with on-farm troubleshooting management techniques
• Established relationships with Canadian swine producers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
• Previous experience with swine farm management computer tools/programs
• Vet Technician Experience 
• Bilingual in French/English
