CMM Programmer - Afternoon Shift

Job Summary: Create and modify CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) inspection programs for stamping, assemblies and tooling.

Required Education and Experience:

• Community College courses in Quality related discipline
• CMM training certificate preferred
• Strong communicator in the English language, both written and oral
• Minimum 3 - 4 years' experience in the use of Coordinate Measuring Machine in stamping and assembly environment
• Advanced - PC-DMIS CMM software
• Through knowledge of blue print reading and interpretation of geometric dimensioning and tolerance
• Proficient in the understanding and use of Statistical process control (SPC)
• Proficient in the use of measuring equipment (i.e. venires, micrometer, height gauges, profile projector, etc.)
• Strong ability to think constructively and good time management
• Good math skills - geometry, trigonometry

Essential Functions:

• Set up, operate and program a CMM. Program using math data and GD&T
• Perform full dimensional layout to drawings and specifications and process capability studies in accordance to Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements.
• Conduct gauge R&R studies & SPC studies as per AIAG or customer requirements
• Perform inspection of first off and last off parts in accordance to customer drawings
• Fully participate in cross functional 8D teams
• Perform GDT reviews for new programs and provide feedback to quality/engineering teams regarding GDT, checking fixtures, and design issues
• Monitor, track, update and maintain the calibration status of all necessary equipment in a timely manner
• Complete tasks on schedule and manage time efficiently
• Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c))
• Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook

Work Environment:

• 95% office, 5% plant floor (PPE required)

  • Supervision usually occurs after the fact

  • Establish priorities when faced with multiple projects

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
• Must be able to work with push pull forces of up to 50lbs. or less

Health and Safety:

• Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
• Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
