McCormick Canada is looking for a Manufacturing Enginerring Technologist to join the Operations team on a 16-month contract. This role will be based out of the London, ON office.

Under the direction of the Engineering and Maintenance Manager, the Manufacturing Engineering Technologist is responsible for the overall improvement of McCormick Canada manufacturing equipment and processes. This includes development and maintenance of documentation that captures best operating practices.

The Manufacturing Engineering Technologist Will
  • Provide technical expertise for manufacturing improvements and facilitate continual dedication to prevention of defects and CCI (Comprehensive Continuous Improvement).
  • Be responsible for 1-2 Capital projects throughout each fiscal year using EEM methodologies
  • Use the 7-wastes as guiding principles to drive the waste to zero and the throughput of a machine to its optimal rate. After a no-capital solution is formed and run to ground, will also develop the full capital solution
  • Develop technical capital proposals out of the work created from reduction of the 7-wastes.
  • Upon approval, conduct all aspects of approved project execution, including detail technical design, issuing technical specifications and following standard project management techniques including vendor management, timelines and installation ramp up
  • Responsible for training and developing a team of technicians based on best practice development and to ensure uniformity across departments
  • Support new start-up initiatives providing technical expertise and process team support.
Required Qualifications
  • BESc (Bachelor of Engineering Science) in Relevant Engineering field (ME, IE, EE)
  • One year of relevant production/engineering experience in a food environment
  • Knowledge and experience with plant operations, packaging and processing equipment
  • Experience developing and writing procedures with cross functional teams
  • Working knowledge of MPWS systems
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to influence related decision making process at multiple levels of the organization
