What We Are Looking For in a Candidate

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the Steelcraft team for a welder apprenticeship. This apprenticeship opportunity will allow you to train with highly skilled welders in a supportive learning environment.  The ideal candidate should be eager to work in a manufacturing environment, enjoy hands-on work, and be physically fit (capable of lifting loads up to 50 lbs, and capable of working in awkward positions). Day shift (5 days per week, 8-hour shifts) and afternoon shift (four days per week, 10-hour shifts) available.  Preference will be given to candidates with previous welding experience, education or to current apprentices.

Training as an Apprentice will include:

  • Learning to weld with MIG and Stick to required specifications
  • Developing fixture concepts
  • Performing fitting, welding, grinding and weld prep duties
  • Learning to work from complex blueprint drawings; perform all layouts, fitting and assembly of intricate fabrications and parts
  • Learning to work in a safe manner by following all Occupational Health & Safety Regulations, Company Policies and Procedures
  • Perform layout and fit-up checks
  • Document and complete ITP reports
  • Gaining knowledge of welding process and set-up
  • Blueprint reading and GDT
