Core Technology - Technician

Purpose

Reporting to the Manager of Core Technology, the incumbent is responsible for overall management of Meridian GTC laboratory in Strathroy Ontario to support research and product development activities. The incumbent will set up, execute, organize, and report out testing results (raw data) and ensure data integrity. Other responsibilities include supporting various Core Technology product and process development activities in areas of corrosion, fastening, material analysis and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Normal operation of Meridian GTC laboratory and all equipment.

• Under the guidance of engineers or project managers, setup, execute and summarize testing in a clear concise manner.

• Perform mechanical testing of various materials and components using several different types of testing equipment and ensure reliable data integrity.

• Perform non-destructive testing of various materials and components using several different types of testing equipment and ensure reliable data integrity

• Assist engineers and project managers to conduct experiments regarding material selection, corrosion, and fastener issues which may arise.

• Provide raw test results to CT engineers for analysis and assist engineers to summarize testing results in technical reports database.

• Co-ordinate maintenance and calibration of testing equipment on an annual or as-needed basis.

• Provide direct technical support to engineers by accomplishing assigned tasks involved in new product development and program launches.

• Prepare metallographic and fractographic samples for engineers and assist in the analysis of products and materials.

• Identify and improve existing testing processes and procedures to improve overall efficiency.

• Maintain organization of testing area, materials, and surrounding environment.

• Lead Joint Health and Safety activities at GTC facility

• Performs other related duties as assigned by management
