The Opportunity

 

We are recruiting a quality-conscious and detail-oriented Mechanical/ Mechatronic Engineering Designer to grow with us at SLEEGERS. The successful candidate will complete engineering design and support for both existing and new products within our Mechatronics Product Engineering team, specifically focusing on the design, manufacture, testing, and evolution of our smart-enabled, automated barbeque cylinder exchange kiosk. Other core responsibilities will include:

 

  • Mechatronic product design
    • Designing new products and redesigning existing products
    • Preparing 2D engineering drawings for parts, weldments, and assemblies
  • Design of machines or mechanical systems in products or for internal manufacturing uses, including automation systems
  • Research and development of new technologies in mechanical and electrical engineering and manufacturing environments
    • Analysis of potential integration to products and processes
  • Participating in design reviews, testing and introduction of new products and product derivatives
  • Creating mechanical models and tolerance analyses to simulate mechatronic design systems
    • Use FEA to analyze parts and systems
  • Troubleshooting end-user issues and assisting in the implementation of effective solutions to enhance product reliability
  • Component selection of mechanical and electrical components
  • Preparing engineering documentation such as design reports
  • Mechanical product and process validation and testing
    • Create testing reports
  • Creating and managing stock codes and BOM’s in MRP / ERP software
  • Preparing other technical engineering documents for internal and external use
  • Fixture and jig design
  • Supporting business development initiatives as required
  • Assisting in other projects, as assigned, to support our process and product development efforts

 

The Ideal Candidate

 

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Systems/Controls Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering program
  • 4+ years of relevant engineering experience in engineering design and manufacturing environments
  • Has advanced experience with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
  • Practical, hands-on experience in design and construction of mechanisms, machines and other mechanical/ electrical components
  • Has strong technical knowledge of engineering mechanics
  • Has a strong knowledge of electronics and electrical systems
  • Has a strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrates an advanced understanding of common manufacturing methods, including sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, and more
    • Understands how to optimize mechanical design to improve manufacturability
  • Has experience with making engineering drawings, especially mechanical part drawings, weldment drawings, and assembly drawings
  • Has experience with reading and interpreting electrical schematics, system diagrams, etc.
  • Has experience with writing technical engineering documentation
  • Strong communicator with quality writing skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of the following standards
    • ASME Y14.5, NFPA 58, NFPA 70, CSA C22.1
