Sr. Specialist/Sr. Engineer, Survivability Systems

Position Description:
- Provide team leadership and mentorship in the development of protection solutions for human survivability (ex. Mine protected seating systems)
- Manage and execute contracted requirements, including subcontracted effort (as required).
- Lead IRAD projects to drive advancements in protection solutions against landmines, IEDs, or similar
- Support bid and proposal development of applicable technologies
- Provide technical mentorship during the development of new concepts and/or troubleshooting of existing technologies
- Evaluate and influence designs for improved manufacturability, cost and integration
- Organize and manage build of prototype assets
- Plan and execute standard and specialty testing (mine blast, drop tower testing, CMVSS 207/210, whole body vibration, etc.)
- Conduct post-test analyses (ex. Processing ATD sensor signals to determine AEP-55 compliance)
- Interface directly with the internal/external customers and suppliers on survivability issues, technologies and solutions
- Write technical reports and present technical information in support of project deliverables and management requests
- Support disposition of survivability-related changes, deviations, waivers or similar

- University degree, college diploma or demonstrated experience in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace or related Engineering field
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience
- Team leadership experience
- Project leadership experience
- Understanding of basic materials, structural analysis and manufacturing process
- Demonstrated analytical skills to solve technical problems through innovative design at component, sub system or system level
- Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
- Hands-on experience fabricating metal, plastic or composite components
- Effective project management skills, and experience with R&D projects
- Experience with NX Unigraphics or similar CAD software
- Strong computer skills in MS Office applications
- Ability to travel (5% Canadian, 5% US & Int'l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
- Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Restrictions for confined workspace
- Ability to obtain Secret Level 2 security clearance
Preferred Requirements:
- Advanced engineering degree (Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace or similar)
- Familiarity with military vehicles, specifications & standards
- Experience with technical software (i.e. Matlab, etc.)
- Experience with structural analysis in LS-DYNA, OptiStruct, ABAQUS or similar
- Programming and algorithm development experience (C++, FORTRAN or similar)
