McCormick Canada is currently looking to hire a Human Relations Generalist to join our HR team. This position is located at our London office.

Under the direction of the Human Relations Business Partner II, the primary purpose of this position is to provide support for our hourly workforce in Employee Relations, Recruitment/Onboarding, HR Program Management as well as completion of HR Administrative duties in a self-directed role. The HR Generalist takes initiative to proactively make improvements and promptly resolves matters as they arise. You will work with all levels of the organization and be a role model of our Shared Values. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Acts as first point of contact for Employee Relations matters which includes:

  • Providing coaching, guidance and support to leadership in employee relations matters, guiding principal-based decisions
  • Conveying HR policies and procedures, staying aware of legislative changes and making improvements to policies as identified
  • Responding to employee relations matters though completing investigations as needed and required documentation with attention to detail
  • Directing employee enquiries to other support functions such as our Shared Service team, when appropriate
  • Assisting with HPO Pillar activities to improve employee engagement through initiatives, change management and employee surveys

 

Facilitates internal and external hourly recruitment activities which includes:

  • Leading weekly recruitment meetings with Operations Extended Leadership Team ensuring adherence to recruitment guidelines and practices and applying principal-based decision making where required
  • Completing full cycle of recruitment activities from job requisitions, posting job vacancies internally and externally, conduct testing sessions, review candidate pool and partner with Hiring Manager to conduct interviews, and hire qualified candidates
  • Creating offer letters as needed
  • Facilitating HR orientation for all new hires
  • Responsibility for all work placements, internships and Summer Student Program

 

Manages several HR programs, including some that support all of Canada such as:

  • Overseeing all Rewards & Recognition Programs
  • Organizing annual programs such as Take Our Kids to Work Day, Christmas gift cards and product giveaways
  • Facilitating Performance Management Process, including calibration of performance scores, talent review and succession planning
  • Leading other HR program initiatives as required

 

Supporting the overall HR team, the HR Generalist is responsible for several key administrative duties such as:

  • Tracking Operations metrics (Absenteeism, Overtime, Headcount to Budget, COVID)
  • Maintaining employee personnel files and other HR records
  • Completion of adhoc employee letters as well as other general written and electronic employee communications
  • Completing of HR purchases and tracking HR budget
  • Provides necessary information locally and to Corporate as requested
  • Travel to our Mississauga office as needed

 

Required Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology or related field
  • CHRL designation or working towards
  • 3-5 years of related progressive HR experience
  • Employee relations experience required
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to manage projects and people, and organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Strong personal leadership and business sense
  • Strong customer focus
  • Strong ethical behavior and professional maturity
