Position Summary
The Maintenance Area Leader is responsible for the co-ordination and assignment of all Departmental activities related to maintenance operations and ensuring that all timing schedules and trades' regulations are adhered to. The Area Leader supports Leadership, Lead hands and Maintenance personnel by acting as liaison in matters regarding policy application, employee relations, and continous improvement for processes and productivity. This position carries direct and/or indirect leadership responsiblity for approximately 30 employees.
Key Responsibilities
1. Be responsible and accountable for meeting Presstran and departmental targets and goals.
2. Participates in personnel requirements planning, overtime schduleling
3. Co-ordinates preventative maintenance with tool room/maintenance technical group and maintenance/production planners.
4. Orders materials required for repair, modification, installation and maintenance of equipment
5. Participates in quotations and follow up related to new projects. Assigns competent trade and follows up with inter-department requests
6. Manages Maintenance Reliability Manager Maintenance Program. Uses data to determine proactive courses of action
7. Manages Budget requirments for department labour and spending.
8. Ensure that Leadhands; Regularly monitor scoreboards to observe where issues are occuring and they are offering assistance to team members.
9. Complete payroll and performance appraisals for your employees on a regular basis.
10. Ensures fairness to direct report and encourages and participates in the Open-Door Resolution Process for employee relation issues.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
1. Post-secondary eduation and Certificate of Qualification in skilled trade(Millwright, Electrician, Tool & Die) and 3 years related work experience
2. 3-5 Leadership experience
3. Must complete the MMP (Pemac) program if required
4. Completion of Cosma International Post Graduate Program an asset
5. Experience in Material Flow Design in a Tier One automotive environment
6. ERP systems experience, specifically CMS in a manufacturing environment
7. Demonstrated ability to use Key Performance Indictors(KPI's) along with data analysis to drive business objectives and operational excellence
8. Experienced in Lean Implementation (standardized work - 5S, value stream mapping, A3 Method
9. Must posses human relations skills and maturity of judgement
10. Demonstrated ability to motivate, mentor and drive team to reach targets
11. Must possess time management, leadership, strong communication, organizational and presentation skills
12. Familiarity with tool and die
