Senior Accountant

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Assist the Assistant Controller with month-end and year-end accounting and reporting, assist with invoicing customers, resolving any invoicing, back charge or other disputed items, assist with vendor payment processing as well as processing of payroll related accounting tasks.
- Interact with Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Human Resources/Payroll employees, project managers and other members of the Company while reporting to the Controller.
- Assisting the Controller with oversight of daily operations of the Finance department, including month-end, year-end accounting and reporting and reconciliations
- Analysis of operational ERP transactions to ensure accurate data and run costing utilities for month-end reporting while reviewing for accuracy
- Support the Controller in financial analysis and review
- Assist with the completion of monthly labour for job costing and payroll accruals for over 200 employees
- Complete payroll accounting entries
- Complete reporting and filing of payroll related remittances
- Assist in resolving any invoicing issues such as incorrect pricing, back charge or disputed items
- Continually improvement to procedures and policies for automation and efficiencies
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Post secondary education in finance/accounting or related business field
- CPA designation or equivalent or nearing completion, is preferred
- Minimum of two year’s experience in the accounting field
- Previous experience with payroll considered an asset
- Credit and collection experience in the construction industry preferred
- Ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
- Superior interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with various levels of the organization, including Senior Leadership
- Able to work alone with little guidance and exercise good judgment within guidelines
- Strong attention to detail
- Sound proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of the construction invoicing, billing methods and contracts is considered an asset
