YOUR DAILY ROLE

This person is expected to fulfil the following key functions and responsibilities:

  • safe and efficient operation of boilers, ammonia compressors, and related equipment
  • defrost freezer tunnels as scheduled by Production Supervisor(s)
  • record daily water, gas, and steam use
  • record freezer tunnel and storage temperatures, fire system pressure, water and air
  • maintain accurate log of activities
  • general housekeeping of compressor rooms, boiler room, and  areas
  • complete daily chemical test on boilers, condensers, and water softeners
  • complete annual training by the Chief Engineer
  • must work in compliance with established HACCP, Food Safety and GMP protocols and report any concerns to your supervisor
  • must work in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures and report all unsafe or unhealthy conditions to your supervisor

As a foundation for success, this person, upon entering the job, should have the following skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • minimum 3rd Class Stationary Engineers Certificate;
  • strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • solid computer experience including spreadsheet capabilities;
  • mechanical aptitude and experience;
  • current knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP regulations and procedures and Quality Systems;
  • critical thinking skills;
  • must have the ability to work shift work and weekends.

In order to be ultimately successful in this job, this person should develop the following skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • first aid training certificate
  • knowledge of quality assurance
  • manufacturing technology knowledge relating to IQF processing requirements
  • energy savings and conservation
