This role will be based out of our manufacturing facility in London, ON. Manage all distribution functions at the plant, including inbound/outbound freight and inventory accuracy. Schedule labour for loading/unloading trailers and maintain shipping records.
Principle Responsibilities
- Coordinate all shipping, receiving, distribution, and storage activities to ensure timely and accurate movement of products and supplies in and out of the facility
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and collaborate with the Production Manager for timely backflushing; visually inspect incoming goods for quantity; supervise Material Handlers in storage; direct MRP Shipping Workbench for precise order shipments.
- Govern stock transfers, shipments, and customs documentation, ensuring smooth logistics and promptly communicating delays to team members.
- Coordinate physical inventory counts, research discrepancies, and adjust inventory to maintain accuracy.
- Maintain time and attendance records for direct reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
- Participate in the hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees to build a capable and engaged team. Assign and monitor daily workloads for Material Handlers to meet production and shipping targets efficiently
- Review performance, plan growth, and conduct monthly meetings with direct reports for career development.
- Maintain 5S standards in the shipping and receiving areas to ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Resolve inventory-related issues, including negative inventory and production bin discrepancies, in collaboration with relevant departments
- Perform other duties as assigned to support logistics and operational goals
- Completion of High School or equivalent, College/University Education in Logistics or Supply Chain Management Preferred
- Minimum 3 years of management/supervisory experience, and motivate the team to meet performance and safety goals
- Experience with packaging machinery and logistics in a manufacturing setting
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Office and business communication skills
- Knowledge of ERP systems and shipping workbench tools, use of SAP - ERP Systems, RF Scanners and Logistics Software an asset
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 requirements and production processes preferred and experience in plastics manufacturing is beneficial
- Moderate hazards include chemicals, commercial products, potential toxins, moving machinery, noise, and industrial vehicles.
- Nearly always works indoors, which includes an office environment with periods of sitting and extended periods on the production floor
- Employee may be required to perform specific tasks such as lifting up to 20 lbs, muscular action, body movements, working positions, posture changes, and visual attentiveness
