About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and highly motivated IT Production Application Specialist to join our dynamic team and help us to setup, maintain and enhance our Production IT systems and applications, innovative solutions and exceptional service. Reporting to the CIO, you will work closely with the local IT team and the PowerCo Germany IT team at our Headquarter.

This position is in-person and located in the charming town of St. Thomas ON.

Key Responsibilities

•    Assist in the rollout, implementation, and upgrades of production systems and applications, ensuring alignment with business and technological advancements.
•    Collaborate with production, digitalization and IT teams to develop effective IT solutions that enhance production efficiency.
•    Help integrate new technologies and systems such as MES (Manufacturing Execution System – AVEVA from Schneider electric) and PLC’s into our production environment.
•    Support the management of critical online production systems to ensure continuous manufacturing operations.
•    Assist in maintaining the stability, efficiency, and reliability of applications across manufacturing, logistics, maintenance, and quality domains.
•    Installing, upgrading, and managing shop floor IT devices based on VW group standards.
•    Ensure monitoring and analysis of production systems and coordinate the availability of production network infrastructure.
•    Organizing, troubleshooting, specialist support for production systems incidents and problems.
•    Manage / resolve security countermeasures when network or system vulnerabilities arise.
•    Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices on production systems.
•    Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and advancements to ensure the company’s production systems remains current and efficient.
•    Purchasing shop floor IT equipment and ensuring the efficient operation and keeping an accurate inventory.
•    Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff.
•    Collaborating closely with Manager IT production in the execution of the IT production strategy.
•    Collaborate with other IT professionals within VW Group and business departments.
•    Supporting large-scale IT production systems, applications and projects.
•    Review shop floor IT vendors to ensure that quality solutions are proposed according to requirements.

What you bring to the Team

Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
Years of Relevant Experience Required: Min. 7 years of relevant experience, ideally at large companies or experience with complex IT projects in production environment.

•    Proficiency with production systems (MES), PLC’s, applications and shop floor IT equipment.
•    Experience in supporting production-systems, -applications and -network infrastructure and PLC’s.
•    Strong knowledge in network protocols, server hardware, IT productions systems, applications and processes.
•    Experience with building automation (BA), energy management (EM) and Factory Monitoring Control Systems (FMCS).
•    Familiarity with Product Lifecycle/Data Management (PLM/PDM) and Facility Management Software (FMS).
•    Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux operating systems.
•    Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
•    Effective project management and facilitation skills.
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical personnel.
•    International mindset and strong interest in global work and diverse teams.
•    German language skills desired.
