We are looking for a Production Supervisor with a collaborative, team-focused mindset, that is dedicated to continuous improvement to join the team at our window manufacturing facility in London, Ontario.

Job Description

•    Provides leadership, planning, and assist in directing manufacturing activities, employees, and projects at the facility

•    Coach and lead Production Team Members and Team Leaders to drive attainment of safety, housekeeping, quality, delivery, and productivity targets

•    Plans, develops, and implements strategies to meet departmental and company goals within agreed upon budgets and timeframes

•    Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments

•    Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training

•    Maintains positive employee relations through effective communication and leadership 

•    Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports, to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs

•    Identify and resolve barriers to production throughput

Required Skills

•    Experience as a Production Supervisor in a Unionized facility

•    Ability to interpret and administer a Collective Agreement

•    Experience with implementation and sustaining a 5S program

•    Exposure to Lean Manufacturing concepts (6 sigma, Kaizen, etc.)

•    Able to perform time studies and make recommendations to improve throughput

•    Have held a leadership role in continuous improvement activities

•    Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate

•    Management of Personnel Resources - Motivating, developing, and directing people 

•    Instructing – Training in all areas related to safety, quality and production

•    Monitoring - Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action

•    Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively and in a professional manner

Qualifications

•    3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory role preferably within an industrial or production environment

•    Experience with continuous (one piece) flow manufacturing, labor paced production, standard work, and pull systems, in addition to experience leading production in a make-to-order manufacturing environment

•    Availability to work flexible hours, including rotating day/afternoon shifts

•    Proven team building and change management skills required

•    Demonstrate integrity, flexibility, sound judgment, respect for people, and good critical thinking skills
