We are hiring a Mechatronics Engineering in our St. Thomas, or Mississauga, ON locations!

 

Masco Canada is hiring a Mechatronics Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the plumbing product development with focus on electronics embedded software that satisfy customer needs and business objectives.

What You Will Do:

  • Mechanical and electronics development of new products and maintenance of existing products with focus on embedded firmware.

  • Design, analysis, programming and debugging of new and existing electronic sensor operated plumbing products. Builds well detailed code following industry methods and guidelines.

  • Troubleshooting and comprehensive analytical evaluations to identify and resolve design issues and technical risks associated with embedded software.

  • Perform testing and analysis of new product designs and sensor technologies and benchmarking of competitor’s products. This includes the efficient preparation of high-quality technical reports.

  • Testing and troubleshooting new and existing product designs and providing innovative software solutions. Responsible for peer review of hardware circuit designs.

  • Support for Engineering systems administration including preparation of engineering change bulletins and project status reports. Input and working to timelines and project schedules to meet the company needs.

 

Who You Are:

  • Minimum of 5 years of related professional experience in development of mechanical and electronics systems.

  • Experience in development, troubleshooting and testing of software (C/C+, Assembler) with sensors (Optic, Capacitive) and microcontrollers.  

  • University or college graduate of an Electronics Engineering program, Mechatronics Engineering Program, Systems Engineering program, Mechanical Engineering Program.

  • Meeting the academic requirements for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist or Engineer in the Province of Ontario.

  • A history of involvement with new product development and playing a key role in successful commercialization of new products.

  • Experience in programming Microcontrollers, (C/C+, Assembler) with well-structured and documented code from concept to market.

  • Experience in development of mechanical product design using 3D CAD Tool.

  • Experience with coding standards, code efficiency and code documentation

  • Experience in the creation of technical specifications associated to new electronic products and software

  • Experience in documentation of code logic and structure and use of debugging tools.

  • Experience with serial protocols for communication and logging data.

  • Experience in developing test plans for product qualification and design assurance.

  • Experience with test equipment and instrumentation used in electronics validation.

  • Experience in the design of digital, analog, and electronic low voltage power circuits

  • Skilled in the use of electronic circuit design software (Altium) and Octave or Mathcad an asset.

  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards associated to plumbing and low voltage electronic products (FCC, IEC, UL)

  • Experience with applying Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) to electronic components and software.

  • Experience with electromechanical systems and operator interfaces used in electronic plumbing devices.

  • IoT (Internet of Things) experience would be an asset; this could include Smart Home, app development or cloud connected services

  • Ability to communicate optimally, efficiently, and professionally, both written and verbal

  • Must have strong work ethic, sense of urgency, high energy level, and time management skills

  • Self-starter, bias for action, results oriented, data-driven

  • Ability to work optimally alone and with others to meet deadlines

  • Digital literacy with proficiency in MS Office applications
