Job Description

Material Planner/Scheduler

In this position, you are also responsible for planning and monitoring the raw materials and products used by Ursa, you ensure that the company doesn't run out of the materials needed to produce its products. You also manage the flow of inventory and make sure products are accurately shipped to customers. Using customer information, you help to set up a schedule for ordering materials and maintaining an efficient inventory.

DUTIES/RESPONSISBILITIES:

· Supports plant or department safety initiatives

  • Manage inventory.
  • Production scheduling
  • Manage all raw material, subcomponent and processor purchasing.
  • Negotiate purchase contracts to maximize value.
  • Manage supplier performance and relationships.
  • Ensure suppliers are compliant with TS or ISO requirements.
  • Reconcile inventory on a regular basis, perform system adjustments.
  • Learn and be able to execute shipping/receiving functions for the company (as back up for department).
  • Create the press schedule and monitor adherence to schedule
  • Follow up on and expedite supplier deliveries
  • Coordinate engineering changes from release to press through production and packaging
  • Perform cycle counts and maintain inventory accuracy in the system
  • Reconcile inventory discrepancies in the system as well as in customer EDI
  • Manage build ahead inventories to support scheduled maintenance or supplier downtime
  • Participate in interdepartmental cross training
  • Manage scrap
  • Locate new sources of supply as required for materials, e-coat, plating, and stamping
  • Visit and evaluate suppliers according to; on-time delivery, internal processes, and capabilities and capacity for new business
  • Send out RFQ’s for parts and negotiate competitive pricing
  • Schedule component and raw steel deliveries to optimize inventory levels and support the production schedules
  • Monitor supplier performance by gathering data and producing reports
  • Receiving and labelling of steel coils
  • Reconciling receiving discrepancies
  • Obsolete inventory reconciliation
  • Order trial material for potential new business

REQUIRES SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Highly adaptable, motivated, analytical/data driven, detail-oriented, and able to work autonomously
  • Open-minded and decisive problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (English both written and verbal)
  • Ability and desire to problem solve, multi task with cross functional team, & prioritize
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively and independently
  • Ability to work professionally under pressure
  • Fully understands the working relationship between MRP and ERP
  • Extensive Supply Chain Experience (raw material, purchase component, outside processor suppliers)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Support business requirements evenings and weekends, when required
  • Excellent skills and experience in contract negotiation and price negotiation in a manufacturing environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary accreditation preferably in supply chain management or purchasing
  • Intermediate level MS Office preferred.
  • 2-year manufacturing experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Automotive MRP/ERP Systems preferred

PHYSICAL/ ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Moderate to steady lifting from floor to waist and from waist to shoulder.
  • Repetitive use of hands and wrist.
  • This position requires a moderate to high degree of standing, walking, stooping/squatting, kneeling, reaching, pulling, or pushing.
  • Required PPE at all times on the floor, green triangle CSA safety shoes, safety glasses, and proper gloves
  • Able to crouch, bend, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
  • Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color and depth variations and small details visually.
  • Punctual attendance to work is required.
  • Ensure team compliance to safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Plant/manufacturing environment; concrete floors, metal parts, assembly machinery, welders, presses, forklifts, cranes, variable temperatures, some outside/dock work (all seasons), moderate to high noise level.
  • Moderate to high stress environment, just-in-time manufacturing with rapidly changing customer demands
  • Travel; valid drivers’ license and passport to travel outside of Canada when required.
  • Office environment; use of computer, printers, faxes, monitors, various hardware and software.

NOTE: URSA is a multi-shift operation. Successful application for this job does not entitle an employee to a shift ‘guarantee’. If the business needs change, the incumbent may be required to work on, or transfer to a different shift than the starting shift in this posting.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $45,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
