Regulatory and Quality specialist

Inovata Foods Corp.is looking for a Regulatory and Quality Specialist to partner with us as we bring families and friends together through offering wholesome and convenient meals. The role is located in our Tillsonburg, Ontario facility. Inovata Foods Corp. is a major producer of wholesome control brand frozen meals for many of North America's largest retailers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Working with Production and R&D Quality departments, reviews and updates or creates visual quality standards to meet the requirements of our customers, best representing the expected quality of the finished product for products produced in both facilities.
- Assists with the Company's sensory program to train panelists and provide sensory assistance as required with Production and Quality.
- Works with the Quality, R&D and Purchasing departments to provide technical assistance in instances when quality issues may take place. Investigate all events and provide thorough written risk assessments to determine the acceptability of finished product.
- Works with our Purchasing department and our packaging suppliers to ensure that the materials used to produce finished packaging meet the sustainability requirements that are required by our customers as they strive to meet their sustainability goals.
- Ensures the Supply Management Matrix is current, to provide clear information regarding the status of the suppliers, including but not limited to, specification, nutritional information, allergens, COO, GFSI status). Ensures Ingredient Allergen Register matches the Supply Matrix and is up to date, providing information to both Edmonton & Tillsonburg.
- Reviews COA's for incoming materials to ensure compliance with specifications provided by our approved vendors. Attends the weekly Expiry meeting to address any concerns with materials approaching shelf-life.
- Maintains and provides current and accurate production batch sheets and packaging information (FG sheets) for the Operations team. Updates batch sheets with any changes or substitutions that may arise on existing products. Trial batch sheets on existing products can be updated with guidance from R&D.
- Understands the Company's HACCP System and SQF Code 9.0 Level 3 Quality System in general and as it pertains to the job requirements.
- Keeps current with all regulatory bodies (CFIA, USDA, FDA) to advise the Quality Assurance Director of any new and upcoming regulatory changes.
- In unison with the department staff, this position ensures their respective department follows the Company safety policies and applicable health and safety legislation.
- This position will also be the backup for new artwork review.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements:
- Must possess a post-secondary education in a related field and preferably two (2) years related experience. A post-secondary degree in Food Science or a related field is a must.
- Must possess a thorough understanding and working knowledge of Quality, Sensory and Production. Must possess good interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and leadership skills. Must possess above-average computer skills.
- Requires completion of WHMIS2015 within the last 3 years.
Working Conditions:

Position may require varying start times and extended working hours with occasional weekends to facilitate customer presentations and attendance and production trials and first runs.
