We are hiring a Controller in our Mississauga, ON or St. Thomas, ON locations!

 

As a Controller, you will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Finance Department and the timely & accurate reporting of all financial information including reports required by Company management, Masco Corporation and regulatory agencies. 

You will provide leadership and coordination of Company reporting, compliance, internal control, and budget management functions.

In this role, you will ensure Company accounting procedures conform with both Canadian and U.S generally accepted accounting principles and consistent with Masco Accounting Policy.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Plan, coordinate and advise the activities of General Accounting, AR, AP and Costing

  • Responsible for all monthly, quarterly and year-end closings and financial reporting

  • Ensure that all established policies, rules, regulations and agreements are followed

  • Ensure that all department processes and procedures are appropriately documented and followed

  • Maintain an adequate system of accounting records and set of controls 

  • Keep abreast of current accounting trends, practices and regulations

  • Supervise and analyze monthly operating results against budget, forecast and prior year

  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements

  • Coordinate & supervise various transfer pricing relationships/reporting  

  • Establish, implement and monitor short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures

  • Manage and direct the performance, recruitment, retention and development of staff to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives

  • Recommend and monitor benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance

  • Coordinate the various tax compliance reporting including statutory financial statements and act as Company representative for any financial and taxation audits, both internal and external

  • Assist VP Finance/CFO with administration of the various company pension plans

  • Advise VP Finance/CFO of significant matters within the financial reporting & the department

 

Who You Are:

  • Detailed knowledge of finance, accounting, internal audit, budgeting, and cost control principles including Canadian and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems

  • Knowledge of federal and provincial financial and taxation regulations

  • Highly developed problem solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections

  • Solid understanding of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis

  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to empower teams to produce quality results within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects

  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings

  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule including potentially extended hours during month end reporting and other key times during the fiscal year

  • Highly technical with a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field accompanied with a recognized accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) with at least ten years experience in a senior level finance or accounting position in a mid-sized manufacturing environment.

  • Experience working for, or a subsidiary of, a public company

  • Sarbanes Oxley and a strong controls background

  • Significant costing experience

  • Management of a midsized accounting group

  • Maturity developed through diverse cultural or management environments to handle organization cultural change

  • Desire and ability to lead improvement in the level of excellence, and an appreciation for the requirements of all team members and customers

  • JD Edwards or similar ERP experience

  • Strong work ethic, hands on approach and willingness to work extended hours if required
