Quality Assurance Technician - Afternoons

Inovata Foods Corp. is looking for a full-time Quality Associate to partner with us as we bring families and friends together through offering wholesome and convenient meals. The role is located in our Tillsonburg, Ontario facility. Inovata Foods Corp. is a major producer of wholesome control brand frozen meals for many of North America's largest retailers.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides the daily monitoring of production, boxing, warehouse and sanitation in accordance with the Company's HACCP System including internal quality audits and the maintenance of quality data. Ensures Quality Assurance (QA) data is generated by various departments as per our written HACCP program and ensures that QA procedures are followed. Completes the Quality Journal (QA Journal) – reporting and recording all non-conformities noted during daily monitoring.
  • May participate in the CFIA HACCP and SQF audits to ensure related documentation is complete, accurate, with appropriate Corrective Actions, signatures with date and time.
  • Ensures that calibration of departmental equipment such as thermometers and scales is performed daily to ensure the equipment is kept within Company, SQF and CFIA specifications.
  • Participates in HACCP activities and ensures related quality information are properly recorded and filed.
  • May occasionally train company personnel in GMP's, HACCP and SQF Quality and Food Safety Programs and any other key issues related to the quality assurance function.
  • Ensures all departments (Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, Shipping/Receiving, Purchasing and Sales) abide by the Company' HACCP System, GMP's and SQF Quality and Food Safety Program, provides training and support as required.
  • Maintains and performs the Company's environmental swabbing program ensuring that rotation of sites (equipment and premises) is followed as per SOPs.
  • Assists the Quality Specialist with the microbiological sampling of finished products, raw materials, and environmental swabs (ACC, Coliform/E.coli), including plating, counting and recording of results.
  • Performs routine raw material sampling of ingredients to ensure compliance to approved ingredient specifications. Reviews and approves incoming receipts of pre-printed labels to the Approved Revision Number List and advises both the Regulatory Compliance Coordinator as well as the Quality Assurance Manager / Director of Quality Assurance of any deviations to the approved label.
  • Assists in the preparation of daily sensory samples and participates in the daily sensory panel, as required, upon completion of sensory training.
  • In unison with the department staff, this position ensures their respective department complies with the Company's safety policies and applicable health and safety legislation.
  • This position performs regular internal HACCP and SOP audits to ensure the Company's programs are effective.
  • Ensures compliance of Food Safety and Quality Management System (SQF).
  • Assists the Quality Assurance Manager when needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a product development position, restaurant or food science field.
