Production Operator - Milling

Summary

Natra Chocolate America is looking for Production Operator for day shift in Milling.

Production operator will be responsible for the operation of equipment for the manufacture of various products and will ensure all work performed adheres to all organizational standards as well as corporate and OHSA safety regulations and guidelines. This is a labour-intensive position requiring individuals to perform repetitive tasks and stand for long periods.

Day shift - Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3 pm.

Job Duties

  • Operate and attend to manual and automated equipment in the production process as instructed including maintaining specified temperatures, weights, run speeds and quality requirements
  • Ensure all equipment is operated according to equipment manufactures instructions and safety guidelines are followed
  • Operating a forklift to move materials within the plant
  • Picking, packing, receiving and restocking product
  • Perform all work to organizational standards to ensure final product meets quality standards including recognizing areas of defect and taking appropriate actions to rectify them
  • Taste test prototypes, products and goods as necessary. May include allergens such as whey powders, milk, soy, tree nuts, and gluten.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems and report product and equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, machines and assigned work area at all times
  • Work effectively as part of a team to ensure productivity and a high level of efficiency
  • Follow all standard operating procedures and designated organizational as well as provincial and federal safety guidelines
  • Participate in educational and training opportunities applicable to the position
  • Other duties shall be assigned as required
  • Adhere to all prescribed Regulatory and Company requirements for Occupational Health, Safety and Environment, Food Safety and Quality Systems, HACCP, Sanitation and GMP's

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working with computerized Food Manufacturing Machinery
  • Experience working in a chocolate or compound mixing or blending area
  • Experience with packaging line equipment (Capping, labelling or case forming machines) considered an asset

Requirements

  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
  • Manual dexterity required
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with little supervision
  • Ability to perform under pressure and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work weekends and/or shift work (flexible to switch between shifts depending on production schedules) with a strong work ethic and employment history
  • Ability to work in shifts of more than 8 hours as well as occasional overtime
  • Ability to stand, crouch, bend, reach, and stoop for long periods of time
