Materials Lead

About the job

As a member of our Logistics & Materials team, you will coordinate the daily operations of material handling and participate in inventory management through cycle counting. Support the material handling team as required.

Responsibilities Include

MATERIAL MANAGEMENT

 
  • Coordinate material handling team to execute daily tasks and ensure material handling processes and procedures are followed
  • Manage non-standard activities through quick decision making to ensure production needs are met
  • Support production by delivering necessary quantities of components and packaging material to the appropriate production line location
  • Work with other departments to ensure warehouse activities harmonize with that of other functions, such as production, purchasing, and quality
  • Provide support to operational processes, including inspection and storage; material usage, order picking, samples preparation; and the handling and disposition of material activities
  • Responsible for monitoring and upholding inventory accuracy through cycle count process, investigation of variances, and quarterly and annual physical inventories
     
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT AND DEPARTMENT MONITORING
 
  • Work with leadership to actively identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives including but not limited to 5S of the warehouse, warehouse organization, and warehouse flow
  • Lead team huddle board to monitor KPI trends and coordinate the team to identify opportunities for improvement.
     
Health and Safety
 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with TMI’s health and safety policies, and procedures, e.g., neat and orderly work environment, wearing prescribed PPE
  • Report unsafe work conditions and/or hazards
     
Qualifications
 
  • High School diploma
  • 3 years of related experience in a warehouse environment
  • LEAN or 6-sigma certification or equivalent experience an asset
  • Knowledge of international shipping and logistics
  • Intermediate experience with MS Word
  • Intermediate experience with MS Excel
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to organize and guide a team
  • Ability to make decisions in non-standard situations
  • Comfortable to train team members as required
  • Consistently thorough and precise
  • Knowledge or experience in an ISO environment is an asset
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is an asset
