Project Scheduler

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Scheduler will work closely with management, project leads and project managers in planning, creating, and managing project schedules and the resources required to successfully complete them.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect and use data to best allocate the organization's human capital, budgets and other resources
  • Assess upcoming projects to identify resource requirements
  • Analyze internal and external resources available and assign to projects as appropriate
  • During project execution, update the schedule to compare the actual work performed against the quoted budget and timeline
  • Advise SCM during the S.02 Project Kickoff stage of each project when external resources are required to meet project need due to a lack of available internal resources
  • Engage with the Applications Engineering department to understand current quoted projects with high probability of winning
  • Responsible for the full management of the Visual Job Scheduler (and any other resource planning tools), assessing the current and projected work to identify types of resources required
  • Work with department leads and HR to initiate hiring when the Resource Planner shows it is necessary
  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify future gaps in work based on current projects and resources available
  • Monitor & update schedule analysis, KPI metrics and/or reports to key stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Participate in the development of standards to support the functional groups for successful delivery of projects
  • Maintain master schedule for all projects and identify and record the impact of work performed according to the schedule
  • Work closely with the project team to develop, maintain and manage the project schedule
  • Ensure that all projects are being scheduled and forecast using a consistent methodology
  • Identifying activities impacting the schedule’s critical path and facilitating the identification of opportunities to accelerate completion of the work, or measures to avoid potential delays
  • Assist in the review of the schedule and status of the plans during all phases of the projects
  • Make decisions and recommendations to management on project related issues
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Partake and at times lead Lesson’s Learned for completed projects
  • Address and Elevate problems to Program Manager and Group Lead when necessary, and if not addressed, to Sr. Management using the ACE principal:
    • Agree to an action with your teammate that includes a due date for the deliverable
    • Compel that the deliverable is at risk, ask how you can help, and notify your teammate that you will need to elevate for help to avoid failure
    • Elevate with the facts of the problem and the proposed resolution where help is needed to avoid failure
  • Other duties as assigned by management

 

Requirements

  • Obtained or working toward a Post-secondary degree in Operations Management or Engineering
  • Strong communication (verbal and written), math and computer skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing principles and engineering terminology
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Visual Job Scheduler is an asset
