About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Engineer is responsible for determining the most effective ways to create our products across multiple brands and product lines. This position requires creativity, the ability to innovate and achieve impressive results in a manufacturing environment. You will be required to find solutions and implement them in many different areas of the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for maintenance of all production equipment.
  • Research new equipment and technology to enable the Plant to continue to grow and deliver competitive products.
  • Initialize, develop and coordinate installation of capital projects/initiatives to improve productivity, plant efficiencies, associate safety and product quality.
  • Presents business cases and IRR on large scale productivity projects/report actual cost savings on all projects.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction programs through new methods and innovation.
  • Minimize production downtime by ensuring the maintenance staff is properly scheduled, trained, equipped and motivated while ensuring associate safety.
  • Manage preventative maintenance programs, critical spares and spare parts stock/inventory.
  • Implement improvement programs and projects, assist in capital planning and allocation.
  • Manage and report on weekly spending requirements; report and address any discrepancies to plan.
  • Schedule and monitor all installations, equipment reliability work and PSSRs.
  • Conduct PSR’s on new or used equipment.
  • Possesses sound knowledge of troubleshooting, adjusting or repairing equipment.
  • Works with Production Supervisors and Operations Analyst to investigate Safety, Food Safety and Equipment related failures, experienced with Root Cause Analysis and other continuous improvement tools.
  • Work with Operations Analyst to collect data on efficiencies, develop trials and tests and present data to support proposed continuous improvement measures and assess efficacy.
  • Promote associate compliance to GMPs and all related food safety practices.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • College or University Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Chemical Engineering
  • 5-7 years of experience as an industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineer in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience in CPG environment considered an asset.
  • Experience with food processing, CFIA and HACCP would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to strive for results.

Experience:
