Position Summary:  The Payroll and Benefits Coordinator contributes to the success of the Company by answering payroll inquiries from staff related to earnings, deductions, taxable benefits, salary, vacation and sick leave and performing the tasks associated with a complete bi-weekly pay period cycle from time validation to issuance of direct deposit.

A day in the life of the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator can look like:

  • Perform the tasks associated with a complete bi-weekly pay period cycle from time validation to issuance of direct deposit for 900 hourly employees
  • Answer payroll inquiries from staff related to earnings, deductions, taxable benefits, salary, vacation, and sick leave.
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Assist with reconciling payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
  • Preparation of hiring/termination documentation, typing of general correspondence.
  • Maintenance of payroll files and records.

What we need from you:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with full cycle payroll & benefits administration
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required
  • Current knowledge of federal and Ontario provincial regulations required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excel knowledge a must
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
  • Customer Service attitude in dealing with employees
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a great team
  • Experienced in ERP system, versed in Navision an asset
  • Experience implementing/changing payroll systems
  • Excellent communication skills in a team environment both written and verbal.
