Hours of operation: Monday – Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Job Description:
Reporting to the BTE Product Manager, this position is responsible for design, commissioning,and technical support of Transit and Locomotive electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems of varying size and complexity, under the direction of more senior team members.

 

Specifically, Engineering I will be working on but not limited to:

  • Perform all aspects of technical work.
  • Create and update designs using Solid Works and AutoCAD in both 2- and 3-
  • Dimensional form
  • Update engineering database information
  • Read and interpret PCB, electrical and mechanical schematics/drawings.
  • Design and verify PCB, hardware fixture, test jigs.
  • Create accurate drawings, BOMs, Test Instructions, Assembly Instructions, and Wiring Instructions
  • Create detailed design documentation and estimate time to complete task.
  • Review drawings, BOMs, Test Instructions, Assembly Instructions, test specifications, procedures and Wiring Instructions for accuracy. Create processes related to day-to-day activities and within the engineering group to
  • improve efficiency.

Qualifications that are considered assets:

  • Bachelors Degree in with experience in design engineering.
  • Knowledge in mechanical systems design, electrical systems design and programming.
  • Efficient in the use of Solidworks and Autocad
  • Understanding of diodes, transistors, IC (VLSI, PAL, CPLD, FPGA, etc), opt-electric
  • devices, display technologies, discharge devices and power sources
  • Programming experience with Python, C, Javascript, Perl, Lisp, Visual Basic, etc would be an asset
  • Able to read, understand and apply procedures
  • Good understanding of written/spoken English
  • Attention to detail
  • Flexibility and ability to learn new skills
  • Experience with PCB design and troubleshooting
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
