The Payroll Specialist completes the end-to-end payroll process for Trojan Technologies associates globally.  In this crucial position, you are an individual contributor with hands-on responsibilities within a global environment. The Payroll Specialist is primary in providing Payroll functional excellence, identifying process improvements, and executing initiatives. This role works with a variety of international stakeholders (i.e. Finance, HR, Legal, business managers and external payroll providers) and therefore excellent interpersonal and communication skills are crucial to build and maintain good working relationships with all business partners.

 

Location Requirements

This position is based in London, ON.  This role must be onsite to support assigned client group(s) a minimum of 3 days per week, with agility for additional days for team-based/client-based activities as required.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Daily payroll activities, including responsibility for payroll processing multiple payrolls globally
  • Process timecard entries and corrections; ensure all timesheets and time-off requests are processed and          finalized to meet payroll deadlines for all payrolls
  • Check payroll information for accuracy and ensure payrolls are processed on a timely basis
  • Process additional earnings and deductions (annual bonuses, severance pay, STD payments, on-call bonuses, wellness reimbursements, garnishments, stock option grants and exercises)
  • Administer and manage benefits and RPP/RRSP in the payroll system and coordinate remittances
  • Calculate, remit and manage workers’ compensation accounts and government remittances
  • Prepare, reconcile, and process T4, W2, T2200 and government remittances for year end
  • Run reports for audit, analysis, and financial reports (GL, payroll summary, PTO balances)
  • Prepare ROEs and respond to wage verifications and unemployment claims
  • Coordinate with HR about changes in payroll (terminations, new hires, promotions, leaves)
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for record retention, audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements and internal control
  • Take a proactive approach and initiative to identify and drive continuous improvements
  • Resolving payroll queries from associates and other key stakeholders i.e., HR, Finance etc. 

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of demonstrated Payroll experience required; PCP certification an asset
  • College degree/diploma, preferably in accounting or business administration; or same level of practical experience
  • Experience with HR/Payroll systems such as Workday, ADP Workforce Now and ADP Enterprise V6 would be an added advantage
  • Up to date knowledge of Canadian and US legislation
  • High proficiency in applications, such as excel and word, as well as general administrative skills
