Production Back-Up Material Handler - High Street
Primary Purpose of Position
As a regular production employee, to be responsible for the safe transportation of and proper storage of supplies, finished goods and other materials within the plant. Supplying production with materials and supplies to operate the machines in a timely manner to assist in maintaining high OEEs. Only trained to be responsible for driving when needed to fill in for the driver.
Major Responsibilities of Position
•Supply / Store:
o Supplying production with materials and supplies in a timely manner.
o Ensuring proper storage of all goods including removing and replacing all containers full of finished goods and stacking and organizing goods.
o Assisting production when needed i.e. jobs that are not on a forklift (helping in cast, machining, cleaning etc.) at the supervisor's discretion.
• Keeping accurate records:
o All incoming metal, hydraulic oil usage, alloy removal from trucks, and pre-weigh dross before taking over to trailers.
o Ensuring proper labeling on containers and are free of conflicting TS16949 tags.
o Perform a pre-use safety check at the beginning of their shift and record the findings on a Forklift Daily Operator Check List.
o Process a daily scrap count and fill out the scrap sheets on each shift worked.
• Safe transportation:
o All parts, products, and equipment while on forklift. Includes the transportation of clean mag; dies to and from the toolroom; leak testers and related fixtures; installation of trim tools; shot sleeves and throat plates to proper storage; metal pumps to D; and all goods to and from quarantine.
o Verifying the accuracy of all inventories moved through both physical and computer counts and ensuring data is correctly documented in the system.
o Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems and Human Resources policies
• Housekeeping:
o Maintaining a clean and environmentally safe environment.
o Maintaining a safe work environment by following all safety procedures.
o Loading & unloading trailers safely, and filling trailers in scrap room.
• Evacuation Procedures:
o Ensure the forklift is parked in the designated area in the event of a plant evacuation.
• CI Improvements:
o Submit kaizens and participate in 5S+1 programs and training.
• Other duties as required, including special projects as they arise.
Rights
• Perform safety inspections on forklift / lock out if not acceptable for use and contact immediate supervisor

• Production Team Members – ensuring that all materials required are at the cell as required

• Shipping Department – load and unload trailers as required and scan material into the appropriate locations
• Maintenance Team Members
• Quality Technicians – may need to assist in organizing sorts when required
• Toolroom Team Members – transporting of dies and trim tools to and from the tool room
Educational and Certification Background
1 Grade 12 diploma or equivalent - Essential
2 Valid fork truck license - We Provide
3 Previous fork truck experience - Not Required

• Organization, time management, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to handle stress well
• FIFO / Inventory
• An understanding of the process of raw material to finished goods (DCM & machining operations)
• Knowledge of company policies & procedures including but not limited to Quality, H&S & Environmental policies
• Be familiar with the OH&S Act and Regulations
• Knowledge of metal types, label system, scrap conveyor system awareness
• Teamwork.
• General math skills and data integrity.
