QA Raw Materials Associate


Introduction 
The QA-Raw Materials Associate will be responsible for ensuring compliance for all raw materials and components required for use in production. The QA-Raw Materials Associate will be dedicated to ensuring the timely release of all materials, including, raw material inputs, packaging materials, product labels, hardware, and other product components required for production processes. Reporting to the Raw Materials Coordinator, the QA-Raw Materials Associate will be responsible for ensuring that Good Production Practices (GPP) and all applicable regulations laid out by the Cannabis Act are adhered to at all times. Our production facility is located in Aylmer, Ontario.

Position Overview: 
  • Working closely with the Raw Materials Coordinator to ensure the timely release of all raw material inputs, packaging materials, product labels, hardware, and other product components required for production processes.Ensure completeness and accuracy of material release documentation, adhering to Good Documentation Practices on all applicable documents related to GPP 
  • Liaising with Planning and Supply Chain departments to ensure completion of material releases in a timely manner 
  • Drafting and reviewing relevant SOPs to ensure continuous compliance and optimizing processes 
  • Investigating and completing deviation reports, complaints, and CAPAs related to raw materials and product components, as well as non-conformities 
  • Reviewing Certificates of Analyses and applicable documentation as per product specifications, to ensure that materials meet quality and regulatory requirements  
  • Investigation of non-conforming materials – materials not suitable for use 
  • Escalating quality issues to the Raw Materials Coordinator appropriately and in a timely manner 
  • Communicating material releases to relevant departments 
  • Accurately tracking material releases and reporting on KPIs 
  • Ensuring materials are appropriately segregated and tagged in accordance with their disposition  
  • Coordinating with Brands and Supply Chain Teams in flagging and removing old/unused inventory in warehouse  
  • Assist QA Team as needed, other job duties as assigned 
 
 
Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in science or a related discipline 
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in Quality Assurance in a GMP/GPP environment, pharmaceutical and/or food and beverage industry 
  • Experience with Quality Systems: Change Control, Deviation, CAPA, Document Control 
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and collaborate with a cross-functional project team 
  • Highly organized with attention to detail for successfully satisfying diverse responsibilities 
  • Ability to read and correctly interpret documents such as safety rules, regulations, and specifications 
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Flexibility to work varying shift schedules  
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Previous work experience with a Canadian Licensed Producer (LP)  
  • Knowledge of the Cannabis Act, GPP, and GMP 
  • Experience working in a HACCP environment 
  • Experience working in a high growth environment
