We are hiring a Human Resources Business partner in our St. Thomas, ON location!

 

In this role, you will act as the People Partner to their clients.  This role will collaborate with the People team and Managers by offering HR support and mentorship on recruitment, employee/labour relations, performance management, conflict resolution and HR practices.

 

You will provide managers with the tools and resources to support their teams.  This role will also be responsible for supporting a broad range of projects from inception to execution.

What You Will Do:

  • Support Hiring Managers and Recruiting throughout recruitment process to ensure effective selection of key talent

  • Coordinate new hire orientation planning and execution, and partner with internal stakeholders to ensure an outstanding onboarding experience

  • Support Supervisors in managing performance on their teams, including performance improvement and performance advising as well as the attendance management program

  • Support annual performance development and talent review processes including goal setting, performance feedback, review discussions and development planning

  • Responds to management team and employee inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs

  • Support employee policy management and compliance including administration, consistent application, process improvement, benchmarking, enhancements, modifications, and development & implementation as well as maintains compliance with all applicable employment related legislation

  • Implement and deliver programs in support of leadership development, learning, performance development, communications, and employee engagement

  • Work with People support team to provide general reporting and support data requests to enable better decision making, conduct problem analysis and recommend people solutions

  • Support the execution of employee engagement initiatives including employee surveys and action planning, recruitment & other community events 

  • Actively promote & demonstrate our core values and regularly communicate information pertaining to being an employee at Masco Canada

  • Investigate and support resolution of employee/labour relations issues in partnership with Senior People Operations team and management to ensure all complaints and/or concerns are addressed

  • Champion positive employee, union and management relations through effective proactive communications, education and facilitate regular interaction with key partners

  • Provide advice to management, staff and union committee in application and interpretation of CBA including administration of the grievance process and ensuring dispute resolution

  • Provide regular updates on grievance activity including monthly report

  • Support preparation for and participate in collective bargaining

  • Collaborate closely with the union committee regarding employee relations on the plant floor

  • Support health & safety team with implementation of monthly safety talks &/or other communications, delivering training with employees and supervisors, conducting health & safety onboarding to new hires, follow up on corrective actions identified, investigations of hazards reported etc.

  • Promote a safe work environment and support Supervisors with the enforcement of all safety rules

 

Who You Are:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of HR related experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio), HRIS including applicant tracking system and onboarding modules

  • Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to educate others on HR practices

  • Ability to influence colleagues in critical decision making

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt in a fast-paced environment

  • Self-starter with able to work independently

  • Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills

  • Undergraduate Degree in related field

  • Certificate in Human Resources and completion of CHRP designation preferred

  • Human Resources related courses
