Role Summary

This position is responsible for the support of the Health and Safety, Health Centre, Engineering and Production teams, to ensure that injuries are prevented through improved ergonomics. This should be done while maintaining, if not improving quality and productivity. The Ergonomics Coordinator will carry out a wide variety of duties for the Human Resources Department with a focus on Team Member relations and quality of work life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects Formet Expectations, Formet’s Visions/Values through Magna’s Employee Charter.
  • Follow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna and Formet rules and regulations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  • Receive, follow up, and direct or respond to Team Member queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support the Engineering teams through proactive design analysis and Ergonomics recommendations of new and current processes. 
  • Promote ergonomics at the design, implementation and operational stages of all work processes
  • Liaison with the Health Centre and Leadership to develop appropriate Modified Work and Return to Work plans. 
  • Ensure accurate, timely submission of all WSIB required documentation. 
  • Carry out claim reviews including follow up, reports for WSIB, Formet’s Leadership team and Human Resources
  • Data entry into Medgate software all injury records
  • Maintain and enhance the Physical Demands Description database.
  • Act as a supporting resource to the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Provide the appropriate ergonomics training to all Team Members.
  • Ensure compliance in all Ergonomics areas of the Magna Health and Safety Audit.
  • Conduct workplace risk assessments on existing equipment and work processes using tools that identify ergonomic hazards. Assist in the development of corrective actions and cost
  • justify any recommended changes.
  • Maintains organized and accurate files, statistical reports and records.
  • Effectively schedule and prepare for appointments and meetings; prepare for meetings; 
  • Perform other duties as designated.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • University degree in Ergonomics, Occupational Biomechanics, Human Kinetics, or Kinesiology.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working as an Ergonomist. 
  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
