Materials Planner

Role Summary
Reporting to the Production Control Manager the Materials Planner is responsible for, but not limited to, monitoring production schedules and supplier schedules utilizing the MRP system to ensure that sufficient materials are present within QSS standard inventory levels encouraging continuous improvement wherever possible in a cost efficient manner exceeding the expectations of the Customer, and Magna International Inc. Ensuring supplies, materials and timely shipment of finished goods to Customers. Achieve goals and maintain established standards of safety, Customer service, productivity and good housekeeping within Qualtech Seating Systems.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that all materials departmental objectives and activities are aligned to the Magna Employee Charter and Magna Corporate Constitution.
Responsible to optimize logistics, ensure proper packaging, and to manage inventory levels to QSS satisfaction.
Oversee production schedules and ensure daily manufacturing schedules are attained to satisfy customer expectations.
Responsible to plan warehouse layout and ensure all signage is present and up-to-date.
Responsible for the accuracy of all shipping information on all shipping documents.
Monitors supplier delivery performance to attain QSS goals and objectives.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
Post-secondary education in materials management or equivalent experience. Ideally have 5 or more years of progressive experience in a materials / manufacturing related environment.
Excellent knowledge of Customer shipping requirements, inventory controls, production scheduling, engineering systems/procedures and plant raw materials, etc. in a manufacturing environment. A demonstrated understanding of inventory
management principles and practices as well as superior analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and a proficiency with Microsoft, SAP and other manufacturing related software.
Good attention to detail, above average problem-solving ability to meet multiple demands, deadlines and support production planning programs.
APICS certification would be an asset.
Additional Information
Comply with all Company safety policies, procedures and rules.Provides technical support to all QSS departments as required.
Perform special projects in support of the organizations business objectives.
